Lynn Pook

Retirement home of Cleunay [Rennes]

Although Lynn Pook is specialized in plastic arts, she also studied dance, sculpture, fine arts and took media courses. Lynn Pook’s work takes its roots in the observation of bodies, individuals, their perceptions; through her researches, she questions the links between objects and publics, individuals and their environment. Since 2003, she has been particularly exploring the touch and the vibrational and touch dimension of the sound. Numerous venues exhibited her work throughout the world (transmediale, Via, Exit, etc.).

The Retirement home of Cleunay is directed by the Community Center of Rennes. That home is part a the Rennes network of retirements places and enables to enrich the different activities while favoring a tailored service.

October 2011, Lynn Pook immersed during 10 days in the life of the retirement home of Cleunay to record and interview retirees and staff members. She asked the following three questions to numerous persons:

How would you describe yourself without telling me your name? What are you doing here? What is a retirement home? She then created a sound postcard entitled: En dernier resort, je regarderai rapetisser le monde. The sound postcard was presented within the retirement home on May 12, 2012.

This residency received support from Rennes Métropole and the Retirement home of Cleunay.
