Sébastien Roux

Le Bon Accueil [Rennes]

Sébastien Roux is a French experimental electronic music composer. He also worked as a music assistant for composers Gérard Pesson and Georges Aperghis at IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique), a French institute for science, music, sound, and avant-garde electro-acoustical art music. He took part in many music projects (especially rock and electronic ones) and his work was exhibited in Europe, North America and Australia.

Le Bon Accueil is a contemporary art gallery specialized in sound art, located along the Saint-Martin canal in Rennes. Through its art programming, the public can discover French and European artists who use sound. Sound art can be seen as pieces reflecting sound installations or environments at the border of visual arts and music. Le Bon Accueil also hosts new artists from Fine Arts School of Rennes or located in Brittany. Le Bon Accueil is a member of the ACB (Art Contemporain en Bretagne) a contemporary art network in Brittany.

Sébastien Roux was at le Bon Accueil 14 to the 21 of May 2009 as an artist-in-residence. He created an acoustic map of the place and a sound diary as part of his residency. This creation was played upon the preview of the exhibition Wall II Sound, on the 11th of June 2009.

This residency received support from Rennes Métropole and le Bon Accueil.
